Flirt With The Dragon Tour!

Screen shot 2013-10-19 at 11.46.59 AMIt begins! We’re off like a prom dress, on our way out west. As you can see from the map, we’re hitting a lot of ground on this trip and we can’t wait to rock your shining faces, Midwest! Because we have a greenhorn for a bass player, our well-seasoned drummer has named this the Flirt With The Dragon tour, promising the wildness that can (and will) ensue There’s no point chasing the dragon when you can make it chase you, right?

Here’s the run-down on the shows:

October 19th : Luthier’s Co-op, 108 Cottage Street, Easthampton MA, 7pm, donations
The home of some of the most beautiful vintage and handmade instruments in the world, as well as the spot where we go to get our ginger libation on! Our own Kaiser Vilhelm has written a song about this amazing drink, it’s that good. We play at 8pm. There will be belly dancing, there will be rock n roll. Beer & Wine also available.

October 21st : Way Station, 683 Washington Avene, Brooklyn NY, 7pm, 21+, $5
with Andy Kirmayer, Elisa Flynn’s Tripeg Lobo, and Cornbred
The Way Station is a refreshing spot in the concrete jungle, a steam-punk bar with a Tardis and a dim speakeasy vibe, dedicated to live music, and well stocked with craft beers. We hit this spot up on the March SXSW tour as well, and had a blast. New York Music Daily was on hand to review the show, which you can read here.

October 22nd : Milkboy Ardmore, 2 E Lancaster Ave,  Ardmore PA, 7pm
Daphne will be doing a quick stripped-down acoustic feature at the wildly popular Open Mic at Milkboy Ardmore sometime around 9pm.  Free, all ages.

October 23rd : Fergie’s Pub, 1214 Sansom St.,  Philadelphia PA, 9:30pm
We will be joining the Levee Drivers for their October Residency at Fergie’s.

October 24th : Purple Fiddle, 21 East Avenue, Thomas WV, 8pm
Our triumphant return to our favorite spot in West By God Virginia. We had so much fun last time at this rockin’ mountaintop joint that it’s a must for every tour. Between the fantastic hospitality, the jacuzzi and the amazing food, we may never come home.

October 25th : Beachland Ballroom & Tavern, 15711 Waterloo Rd  Cleveland OH, 7pm $8
with Bethesda, Morgan Mecaskey, and the Womacks  More info at the event page Here.

Laughing Place

photoWash the canvas all in gold, as the floor of heaven
To bleed through every color overlaid
So shines a good deed in a naughty world
How far that little candle throws his beams!

Please, Mister, please don’t throw me into that briar patch
Lord knows I might never find my way back

I don’t believe in heroes, greater glory dims the less
Secrets have a way of corroding their containers

So you stole fire from the gods, this precious gift
Some use for right and some for wrong

You can use the master’s tools to unmake the master’s house
But where will you run when the final judgment comes?

O Sinnerman, where you gonna run to?
